What is a Full Moon Ritual? 

A full moon ritual is an intentional meditative practice that helps you align with the power of the full moon to honor the abundance in your life or take stock of what is working versus what you are ready to let go of, explains Sydney Eger, lead esthetician at KNESKO Skin.

“A full moon occurs monthly, and each one is in the opposite astrological sign as the sun,” Eger explains. “Each full moon in each sign allows us to reflect on what we desired six months ago and how we have manifested that energy now. Do we like what we manifested? What would we change? How should we proceed?”

1. Bask in the Moonlight

Practice your full moon ritual in a quiet, undisturbed space—ideally at home, where you can be fully present with yourself.  “If possible, go outside or sit near a window and look at the full moon. Let your eyes soak up the light,” Eger says. Try to clear your mind and redirect thoughts back to a sense of quiet awe. Whether inside or outside, light a candle, grab a journal and pen, and find a cozy place to sit.

2. Pause and Reflect

Reflect back to about six months ago and try to remember what was on your mind at that time. What challenges did you have and what were you hoping to bring into your life? “Now reflect on how that theme has changed or remained in your life,” says Eger. “If it feels safe to do so, allow yourself to express any emotions through writing, drawing, movement, or other form of expression.”

3. Set an Intention & Meditate

Once you have embodied your emotion, take a few deep breaths and write down how you would like to make space for the new.
