Bart Kaczanowicz is proof that grit, charisma, and know-how can catapult you into the successful career of your dreams. Now a well-known, well-loved beauty veteran and founder of his own long-running beauty blog, OMG Bart, Bart’s story is anything but linear. He came to the United States as an exchange student by way of Poland in the ‘90s, but instead of heading back to Europe moved to the East Coast to continue his education.
His first job post-graduation was in the marketing department at Jo Malone, which he was able to land after temping under the Estée Lauder Companies umbrella. From there, he filled in as a receptionist at Bobbi Brown and packed gift boxes for La Mer, wrapped ribbons around gift bags. Eventually, he ended up working public relations for a high-end jewelry brand.
A self-proclaimed social Leo, Bart made friends effortlessly along this unconventional path he carved for himself, which was key to his next venture: launching a beauty blog. Fast forward 10 years, and he’s lucky to dish on all the latest, greatest, and most noteworthy skincare discoveries with a large following that trusts his recommendations.
As a long-time fan of KNESKO, sitting down for a chat with Bart only made sense. We were able to take some time with him for a Q&A session covering everything from remaining curious to recharging to his favorite KNESKO treatments.
KNESKO: How did you discover KNESKO and what’s your go-to treatment?
Bart Kaczanowicz: I was introduced to KNESKO by one of my favorite publicists during press days. I still vividly remember the gorgeous mask display in the showroom. After leaving with a gift bag, I couldn’t wait to try the Eye Masks when I got home. Fast forward a few years, and now I definitely have some favorite products.
I love the Diamond Radiance, Amethyst, Green Jade, and Gold Repair masks. As for facial serums, Diamond Radiance and Rose Quartz are tied for number one. You might be surprised to hear about my other favorite KNESKO product—the Gua Sha tool. The way the Rose Quartz is cut and angled is perfect for me. Pressing the cleft of the heart-shaped tool against the bridge of my nose releases sinus tension and completely elevates my mood.
In one word, how would you describe your KNESKO journey?
Grounding. I make a point to disconnect for 20 to 30 minutes whenever I use a KNESKO face mask, embracing complete stillness.
What is your approach to skincare and has it evolved?
Because of the nature of my work, I receive an overwhelming amount of skincare products to try—and I love it! That said, my AM and PM routines are pretty straightforward.
My twenties were all over the place—the beauty industry in the 2000s was a bit chaotic, to say the least. I learned that salicylic acid works for me, but benzoyl peroxide does not. In my thirties, I might have overdone it with resurfacing peel pads and acid toners. Now, in my forties, my approach is more structured: Vitamin C in the morning, retinol at night, and SPF every day. I also incorporate peptides and niacinamide whenever I can fit them in.
What’s the biggest skincare mistake you see people make?
Social media is like the wild west when it comes to product advice, and it’s scary how many people blindly follow trends. Skincare is deeply personal—our individual needs and concerns differ vastly and should be addressed with the same level of precision. I believe everyone should see a dermatologist before starting a routine that involves active ingredients like retinoids or resurfacing acids. A professional can recommend products or ingredients, set realistic expectations, and guide you from there.
What's a non-negotiable part of your skincare routine?
I’ve been loyal to eye creams since I was 19, and at 44, I can confidently say that being consistent pays off. I’ve tried countless formulas, so I’m not tied to any one brand, but I strongly believe in the importance of using an eye cream.

What's the most rewarding aspect of your career?
I hope this doesn’t come across as self-serving, but I absolutely love hearing from people who took my recommendations and came back to tell me how happy they are with the product. Being recognized as an industry insider by brands, publicists, and fellow creators is also incredibly rewarding. Honestly, I never imagined I’d be featured in a new launch video for Augustinus Bader or have a curated kit with PCA Skin that ran for over five years, but it all happened—and for that, I’m nothing but grateful.
What's your best piece of career advice?
Ask questions. Listening is important, but there’s a lot of truth to the saying, “the more you know.” Curiosity is how my passion and knowledge grew in every area of life. Once you surround yourself with people who inspire you, asking questions is how you learn to hone your craft and stand out. Being engaging and approachable is crucial to creating meaningful dialogue.
You've had a long day. How are you relaxing when you get home?
I’m a huge bath enthusiast. Give me all the salts, oils, bubbles, or powders, and light a candle. No music needed. This ultimate self-care ritual recharges both my body and mind in just 20 to 30 minutes. If a bath isn’t in the cards, I can completely lose myself in a good book—especially if it’s a gripping Nordic Noir novel, which is a perfect way to disconnect and unwind.
How do you incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine?
I love starting my day with a long, brisk walk. After moving from the city to rural Connecticut with my husband, I’ve come to appreciate the clean air and the peaceful, quiet surroundings. Walking while taking in a breathtaking sunrise clears my head completely. This practice is incredibly energizing and fills me with positive energy to carry me through the day.
