More Than a Makeover: KNESKO Teams Up With James Storehouse to Empower Foster Youth

Prom is one of those moments so many young women dream about. It’s often one of their first chances to put on a beautiful dress, get their hair and makeup done, and make memories with friends that’ll literally last them a lifetime. But for teens in foster care or those navigating life after trauma, this iconic high school event can sometimes feel out of reach.

James Storehouse ‘Beautiful You’ Event

James Storehouse, a nonprofit based in Southern California, exists to serve children and young adults impacted by the foster care system, as well as at-risk teen parents and youth recently rescued from trafficking. From emergency resources to long-term mentoring and housing support, their mission is to provide tangible aid, dignity, and hope to a community that’s often overlooked.

The organization’s annual Beautiful You event, which was held on April 26, is one of their most cherished gatherings. It’s dedicated to making youth feel seen, valued, and celebrated. This year, attendees were able to shop for prom attire and enjoy full beauty makeovers, allowing them to walk away feeling empowered, radiant, and excited for their future.

The event—which was open to youth ages 14 to 26—also extended to those who already graduated from high school. They were able to shop for free spring dresses and business attire, and received access to interview preparation to help them nail upcoming interviews.

KNESKO & ‘Beautiful You’

At KNESKO, we believe that beauty is more than surface level. It’s about self-love, confidence, and the energy we carry within. Partnering with James Storehouse for their 2025 ‘Beautiful You’ event felt like a serendipitous collaboration, as the mission deeply resonates with founder Lejla Cas. She joined the event alongside members of the KNESKO team.

“I always thought it would be so great to partner with an organization that connects young women with KNESKO's mission of building self-esteem and confidence and self-love,” Lejla shares. “We start doubting ourselves at such a young age, and I have two young daughters, so this message resonates with me and so many other women.”

During the event, KNESKO provided hydrating eye treatments for each woman using products from the Rose Quartz Collection, which has the mantra: “I am deserving of love in my life, and I’m able to give and receive love and affection with ease.” As a lasting token of the experience, each participant received a Rose Quartz Gua Sha stone—a tangible reminder that self-care is more than a beauty ritual and that they are worthy, cherished, and never alone.

“When I found James Storehouse and I learned more about the foster care system in general, I learned that they really need more help and awareness to keep doing the amazing work they do,” Lejla adds.

KNESKO was honored to play a small role in lifting these young women up—helping them not only see their outer beauty, but to reconnect with their inner strength and light. To learn more about James Storehouse and how you can support their life-changing work, visit jamesstorehouse.org.
